Biography
Kara E. Key, JD is a dedicated and compassionate associate attorney at The Roffmann Law Office, LLC, where she focuses her practice exclusively on family law, including divorce, custody disputes, child support, paternity cases, modifications, adoption, guardianship, domestic violence matters, and grandparents’ rights. Licensed in Missouri, Ms. Key is committed to guiding clients through some of the most challenging times in their lives with a thoughtful and strategic approach. She works to find creative and effective solutions, prioritizing amicable resolutions when possible while remaining a strong advocate in the courtroom when litigation is necessary.
Originally from Texas, Ms. Key earned her law degree in Charleston, South Carolina, where she also gained extensive experience working at a boutique family law firm throughout law school. There, she developed a deep understanding of complex custody issues, asset division, and high-conflict family disputes. Following law school, she practiced in Texas under a supervisory license, assisting clients with all facets of family law litigation, from case strategy and discovery to depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
Ms. Key’s passion for family law stems from her own personal experience—when her stepfather adopted her and her siblings, she witnessed firsthand the profound impact a dedicated attorney can have on a family's future. This experience shaped her commitment to serving clients with the same level of care, advocacy, and dedication.
Ms. Key relocated to the Kansas City area in 2022, drawn to The Roffmann Law Office, LLC mission of providing high-quality legal representation with a client-centered approach. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Clay County Bar Association, and the Association of Women Lawyers.
